Passing Networks

I've recently come across and article posted by some computer scientists and mathematicians regarding network theory.     This article goes over a theory of networks implemented by way of passing in soccer.

It an interesting read.     For us as soccer coaches, what does this mean?     In theory, in my opinion this leads to building up and continuing to train with good technical skills such as control and dribbling.

An example of application with our youth is to create a training session that focuses on passing and possession.     You could name a training game such as "the Internet" and inform all players to keep the net alive but passing the ball.   If the ball is intercepted by a defender (ie. you as the coach), the network is down.
