Save the Date!

October 6th 2012

Team Picture Schedule will be published soon at the AYSO 183 Web Site.
Coaches will have Picture Day handouts to pass out to players and families.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What time is my team's picture?
Historically, your team's picture scheduled time is 60 minutes before your actual game time.    Please plan ahead.      We will announce the schedule at our AYSO 183 Web Site.

What time again?
Please be sure to remind players to meet 15 minutes before your team's designated team picture time.     Your team will gather at the location and the photography team will lineup the players.

Where will pictures be taken?
We plan on having your team take pictures at Peterson Park South Fields.

My team plays a Hollywood Park so where is the Peterson Park South Field Location?
For those of you who are at Hollywood Park and have teams in U05, U06 and U08 Divisions,  the Peterson Park South Field Location is at Central Park and Ardmore.

You can park on Central Park Ave (park side) and walk thru the park gates.   You'll see the playground, park field house and the tennis courts.    The team's picture location is usually next to the tennis courts.

My team plays a Peterson Park North so where is the Peterson Park South Fields?
At the Peterson Park North Field location, walk south on the park pathways and you will then see the South Fields.

By the way, Peterson Park North Field location is the portion of Peterson Park at the intersection of Peterson Ave and Central Park.      There is a row of trees that separate the north and south fields.     Google Maps and satellite view will distinctly inform you as to how the fields are located.

Is there a cost with pictures?
Yes.  You will need to provide payment with the order form.

Your coach will be passing out the order forms to your team.    The picture order form has many options for you to choose from.    Our photography company may have online ordering instructions.   Please follow the instructions with regards to ordering.

I don't have a form?  What do I do?  At Picture Day, the photography team will also be handing out ordering form for parents.    Please bring a check for payment.

When will we get our pictures?
On Picture Day, if you have handed your order form and payment to the photography team, the order will be processed.    When our photography company has completed processing of the photos, the vendor will ship the team packages to our region.     We will notify coaches for pickup of the processed packages that were ordered.

Who will pick up the packages?
The coach representing your team will pickup the team package.

Will there be another Picture Day other than this date?
No.

If your team has an AYSO/Shutterfly web site, feel free to take advantage of those features regarding team and player photo packages.

Thanks

U06 Saturday Session Plan

U06 Saturday Session Plan

For some U06 players, this is the first time playing soccer with a team.   As a coach,  one of your responsibilities is to make it easy for the youth player to transition into a game.    Your players may not know what to do at practices and then the game itself.

Here is a sample format for a U06 Saturday Session in 60 minutes.

Hints:
  • No standing in lines waiting for a turn.
  • Always have water breaks
  • Stick with a "fun story" theme.
Todays Theme  - Crazy Cars

00:00 - 10:00 minutes  - Dribble, Dribble, Dribble
All your players should bring a ball with them.   In your half of the field, do a lot of dribbling exercizes.    For example, tell the players to dribble right foot, right foot, right foot then switch to left foot, left foot, left foot.

  • At the start of the dribbling session talk about "cars" and make it fun.
  • Ask each player what kind of car that they would like to be.   "Red Car",  "Sports Car", etc.
10:00 - 20:00 minutes - AYSO Fun Training Game #1  - Red Light Green Light
The players have been dribbling for about 5-10 minutes.     After your water break, the players are still thinking dribbling.   Most youth players at U06 relate themselves to the ball only and occassionally understand time and space when it comes to passing.    Again for many this is the first time playing organized soccer.

20:00 - 30:00 minutes - AYSO Fun Training Game #2 - "Crazy Car Game"
Setup cones in each corner of the field.   The cones should make out a square in the corners of the field.    Each corner of the field can have a name such as "gas station", "rest stop", "parking lot" and/or "garage".

The coach(es) are the "crazy cars" trying to crash the balls.    Each player has a ball to dribble thru the highway (soccer field) and they are to go to one of the "gas stations", "rest stop", "parking lot" and/or "garage".

Each player can be a cool vehicle such as a "race car",  "bus", "truck", etc.

What happens?   In this game you are encourage dribbling and possesion of the ball.    The youth players at the same time get used to the distance of the fields and the "dynamic" movement of other players / coaches running on the field.    The game will look chaotic from a fan / parent viewpoint, however this "car game" simulates game-link scenarios.     We are replicating the game like situation for a player to keep dribbling, control the ball and stopping at the corners of the field.

Changing game situations
  • Add lanes on the field such as "speed lane",  "dribbling lanes",  "obstacle course"

30:00 - 55:00  AYSO U06 Game  - 3 on 3 Game
After the AYSO Fun Training Games,   the players will need a break.    Now what's important is the transition from the training games to the game itself     You see if you let the "Game be the Teacher",  the "Red Light, Green Light Game" and the "Crazy Cars Game",  wil have demonstrated game like situations.    Your players will now understand what to do with the ball on the field.

Refer to your U06 Coach Manual or Guidlines Book for the U06 Laws of the Game.

Basic Format is
  • 4 Quarter Game
  • 5 Minute Quarters
  • 1-2 Minute Water Breaks
  • 3 players on the field per team  ( 3 on 3 )
  • Switch Fields at half time  (Quarter 1, Quarter 2 = 1st half)  (Quarter 3, Quarter 4 = 2nd half)
  • 1 coach per team on field as guiding coaches and referee(s).

2012 Fall U05 Program

U05-C Program
The objective of this program is to provide young players and their parents with a "pressure free" introduction to the beautiful and simple game of soccer.   At this age players should be exposed to soccer by playing simple, fun activities and games that require little to no practice and a minimal time commitment.

The C for U05 stands for coed which is for both boys and girls.   In older divisions, we have B and G which are for boys and girls respectively.   Also, please remind your teams that the team assignment is for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013.

U05 Master Coach and U05 Coaches
As the designated Master Coach for U05, I will help coordinate with you training activities on Saturdays with practice plans.        On Saturdays,  I will be coordinating the activities on the field with you.    The importance of having a Master Coach is to guide you and parents thru our U05 program.

You as the coach will help introduce the kids to soccer, allow them to make friends, learn something new, have fun and get a taste of the game.   Parents will also learn new training techniques with fun games, activities and also understand the AYSO model for playing soccer.       I encourage you to have parents volunteer with you during the fun training games.

My schedule on Saturdays is quite busy as I'm also a coach in U10 and U14.   So I'll will not be at the U05 field the entire day.   I will go the the U05 Field when I'm available.     I do plan to start the day at 9:00 at the U05 Field on Saturdays.     The U05 Schedule runs from 9:00am to 2:00pm  for the Fall.

Game Day and Location
Our season runs on Saturdays starting on Sept 8 thru Oct. 27.   The games are located at Hollywood Park which is a Peterson and Kedzie.    Our first day, we'll be meeting on the South Side of the Hollywood Park Fieldhouse at approximately 8:45am.

Player Equipment and Uniform
Your designated team contact will be coordinating with your child's team uniform.   See below for team contact.    In addition, you'll need to purchase for your child soccer shoes, soccer shinguards, and a size #3 soccer ball.  We don't use size 4 or size 5 at this level.   Please be sure that you mark the ball with marker the last name and team number.     Please be sure that the player brings the ball every Saturday.

Players are to wear soccer shoes and shinguards every Saturday.   Players can wear flat gym shoes or turf shoes but if the ground is wet or slippery, soccer shoes (cleats) are recommended.     Please no baseball shoes, cleats or football shoes or cleats.   The cleat configuration is different than from soccer shoes.

Region 183 - U05 Equipment / Cones and Pinnies  / First Aid Kit
Our U05 / U06 Fields will have the AYSO Region 183 Equipment Blue Bag  stocked with "vests", "flat cones" and balls that is to be used at the fields.   Once completed please return the equipment to the Blug Bag.    There is also a First Aid Kit in the bag.    If the kit gets used please let me know so that I can replenish with first aid supplies.

Game Day Format (approximate timing)
00:00 - 10:00 min :  Introductions / Warm up
10:00 - 15:00 min :  AYSO Training Game 1
15:00 - 20:00 min :  Water Break  ( 1-2 min break ) add more time to games!
20:00 - 25:00 min :  AYSO Training Game 2
30:00 - 55:00 min :  Soccer Game (3 on 3) 5 min quartersl; 1 min breaks,   4 quarters = full game

At the start of the session, you are to pick up the practice plan sheet and/or use the training sheets from the blue bag.   You can keep the paper training sheets and please return the practice games that are laminated (plastic sheets) to the blue bag.      I also have a few practice plans at the www.ayso183.org web site under the Coaches / U05 Program Section.

You will then start with a warm up activity and then move into groups where we will then play fun game activities.   The last 20-30 minutes of the session, we'll form teams and play 3 games of 3 v 3 at the same time at our field.   The players will be rotated at the quarter break (about 5 minutes each).

All of the players in the U05 Division will be receiving the same color uniform.

So in order to play the game with different colors, we have 'vests' or 'pinnies' to place over the players.

You are to balance the teams between the two different colors.   You could initially start with your team assignments and I encourage you to work with the other coach to balance teams.

When we play the soccer 3 v 3 game, the players will wear "pinnies" which are light soccer practice vests  different colors over the uniform.   This will allow for us to create new teams every week so that all of the children get to know each other thru play.
